June 2024 Boumans by the Danube

 Dear friends,

This is a short notice to let you know that Julie and I have begun our six weeks of visiting in the US, and our schedule of church visits is below, in case any of you are free to join in any of the presentations or gatherings we have set up. Or if you want to reach out for an individual meeting as well, we are eager to see many of you in person.

Our schedule is as follows:

Sunday, June 23 – we were at First CRC in Grand Rapids yesterday for worship and a potluck lunch.

Wednesday, June 26 – Our household group from Neland Ave CRC will host a backyard potluck for us from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (In the DeBoe and Hendriksen back yards - 2243 and 2251 Jefferson Dr. SE) Join us for good food, fellowship, and an update on the Boumans’ ministry in Budapest (around 7:00 p.m.). Hot dogs/brats, water/lemonade, dessert, and table service are provided, but bring something to share if you like.

Sunday, June 30 – We will be worshipping and giving a short presentation at Ann Arbor CRC at 10:30 am -  (1717 Broadway St, Ann Arbor)

Monday, July 1 – Jennifer and Jim Bryson will host a meet & greet for us in their backyard in Dexter, MI, and you are invited:
Location: 8252 Bridgeway Dr, Dexter, MI 48130 Time: 7-9 PM
 Please contact Jennifer directly at:
Bryson.Jennifer@gmail.com if you plan to attend.

Sunday, July 7 – We will be worshiping and giving a short presentation at Cascade Fellowship CRC at 10 am - 6655 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids.

Sunday, July 14 - We will be worshiping and giving a short presentation at Boston Square CRC at 10 am - 1803 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Grand Rapids.

Thursday-Saturday, July 18-20 – We will be visiting with a dynamic group of young adults at the South Coast Beach Project (SOCO) in Port Dover, Ontario for their annual camping retreat. SOCO and Cohort Europe share many similar goals, and we hope to build bridges between the two programs, as well as spend time with long-time friend Rev. Willemina Zwart who directs this creative ministry along the lakeshore.

Sunday, July 21 - We will be worshiping and giving a short presentation at LaGrave Ave CRC at 5:30 pm - 107 La Grave Ave SE, Grand Rapids. Followed by a light supper.

Sunday, July 28 - - We will be worshiping and receiving a sending blessing at Neland Ave CRC at 10 am – 940 Neland Ave SE, Grand Rapids

I hope you can join us for one or more of these gatherings.

In other news, briefly, we were blessed to host a week of closure and blessing for our first year group of Cohort Europe in early June. Four of the five members will continue ministry and learning in Europe next year. The fifth is following a faithful calling to graduate school in Pittsburgh. We are very grateful for such an encouraging start to this new program.

Jeff will return home to Budapest at the end of July in time for the orientation for the new group of Cohort members, with six next year instead of five. An introduction to the team will be forthcoming in a communication soon.

Julie will spend an extra 7-10 days in the US, visiting with her mother, Joyce Weiser in Pennsylvania. Thank you for your prayers for Joyce, and the rest of Julie’s family as they walk in new territory together in the aftermath of Joyce’s stroke in February. Recovery has been steady, but adjustments have been necessary. Your continued prayers are appreciated.

Blessings friends – I hope you can find rest in times of stress and worry; and meaning in a time that sometimes seems full of chaos and confusion.

Peace,

Jeff
